Still undecided on a gift for that precocious, technologically inclined child on your list? A new service gives kids the opportunity to own and operate their own virtual pet websites.

Children worldwide have created, fed, played with, and battled their virtual pets on Neopets and other sites. These sites, however, while offering diverse fields of play and even developed economies, have limitations that CEI Media Group’s iPetSite.com hopes to overcome.

Conventional virtual pet sites provide the infrastructure, the pet options, and the rules of interaction. Users are then able to create their pets and play the game as established.

iPetSite.com takes the virtual world one step further. Children actually design and build their own virtual pet sites: constructing the interface, designing the available pets, creating the items, and making up all the rules. Complete creative control is handed over to these mini-moguls of the virtual pet world.

These virtual pet sites are then made live and interactive, and other virtual pet fans can register, create a pet, and play on them.

In addition to the pride of ownership, children get experience in management, design, and coding, all in a familiar virtual environment.

iPetSite.com is offering a special holiday price of $19.95 ($20 off the regular price) for the complete software package and one year of web hosting. The software does require at least some knowledge of html to take full advantage of the customization. However, for those tykes (and parents) not yet html-literate, iPetSite.com will fully install the program for a one-time fee of $9.95.

  1. Yes, they promise this, dont they. Yet, does it become reality, when they dont whant to bring it up after they post this on the home page of the site

iPetSite will be back on October 31, 2006

Yet, kids and teens plus some adults wait for it to reopen. We dont buy from them becouse people dont always get it when they are gaurunteed to give it. this is just like them to stall. They promise the users a special date to ope. But do they? No, they dont. They advertise them opening last week, and the month before that. Are they going ever reopen, or still make some stupid sites that some parents dont whant there kids to go on like yomommagrams, but this link is open to everyone at the home page of ipetsite.com Plus, why oreder the softwear, you will never know if you will get it and it has alot of bugs. People, if we could we would do something aganst this site. Maybe its false advertisemnet we will never know. Until next time…Trevor rose
