A fun new way to improve your artistic craft and garner some notice along the way.
While beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, it seems that bad art abounds these days. Designer and illustrator Von Glischka wants to change that, and he wants your help.
Glischka, principal of Glischka Studios, knows that appealing to the creative instinct to improve is a winner, but it doesn’t hurt to give out a prize for recognition. Thus has he established the “3 Thumbs Up Award” to recognize illustration and design that not only ups the status quo but inspires others to do so as well.
Primarily geared toward creatives (but anyone can view), the 3 Thumbs Up Awards site supports a blog-style posting gallery. To get access, contact 3TU, and you will get a user name and password. Then…illustrate, draw, either physical or digital media. Upload. Over time participants will recieve feedback geared toward making the best of what they have and improving thier execution and style. Once the contribution has been deemed worthy, it will be gratned the soon-to-be-coveted 3 Thumbs Up Award graphic to display whereever wanted.
Three Thumbs Up combines playfullness, access to community, and a place to grow into one easily accessable place where particpants can learn from each other and gives another way for us to make our own names. Even if you don’t illustrate you can view and opine; it’s certanly worth the look of any creative looking to raise our collective levels.

That is a really cool idea. I had heard a bit around the blogosphere about this new award but wasn’t sure what it was. Sounds like it is going to catch on if people are already chatting about it.
I have always enjoyed Von Glischka’s work. This is just another way he shows amazing support for the design community.
This will definitely be an interesting thing to watch and to see how it developes.

Started by Von Glischka of Glischka Studios, these awards are… “To reward the individual artist who demonstrates creativity and the artistic pursuit of excellence on a consistent basis.” […]
