have to do a job in Indesign with hebrew text. The letters come written in the wrong direction.
When I open the original it complains about a plugin ME ENABLER.RPLN which when I did a google search I realized it had to do with the hebrew text. Can I get that for free and where? Thank so much!

Yes, Markzware’s Q2ID lets InDesign convert and open Quark files. It’s not a perfect conversion sometimes but I’ve always been pleased with the results. I think they also have a plug-in for opening InDesign files in Quark.

The main feature of this plug-in is that the updates happen automatically, without user interaction.

This allows for some forms of automation – e.g. a template file that automatically ‘sucks’ in a logo and a text body, or some automated pages.

One of the goals is to create a ‘bridge’ between automated processes which juggle content and images, and ‘smart’ documents that prepare themselves for the user.

That’s odd. it *should* update text files, it certainly can let you know when a linked text file is missing – unless you turned off that feature in the preferences.

Hi James,

I see what you mean, but as far as I know, InDesign updates images but not to imported text. Once you have imported text into InDesign CS (don’t know about CS 2) it is no longer linked to the original file, thus it doesn’t autoupdate when the original file is modified.

As we both said though, InDesign does update images, that’s true.

If you want to try out the plug-in I’d be glad to see what you think of it.

I’m not sure to what extent this is useful, considering InDesign already does this on its own with text and graphic files.
