The documents are in Internet Web browser form and can be viewed with Firefox, Opera or Internet Explorer and other Web Browsers supporting SVG. These SVG documents are best viewed in Firefox. SVG Document Templates Version 1.0 in conjunction with the Openclipart.org library gives you a complete end to end solution in Open Source for creating labels. Inkscape.org, a open source free graphic draw editor which strives to be SVG complient was utilized to help create the documents,
We believe these types of documents can be used for a multitude of other graphic and design applications for quick viewing, proofing, web transfer, opening, editing and printing. said Russell Ossendryver, managing director of Worldlabel.com Inc.†Worldlabel.com sees large bennifits using SVG files for Document Management when compared to PDF. The potential for wide spread use of this format for blank pre-press templates and other graphic applications for the Web and print media for editing is obvious. They start bridging a gap between the web design and the print design community and now business can give the same presentation on the Web as they do in print. Worldlabel.com will release more label sizes and intend to release templates for all standard size print media like business cards, Media Jewel cases, flyer’s, brochures, post cards, envelopes etc. We believe that at some point these type of document will become the universal choice for graphic designers.
Openoffice.org Draw program with use of a SVG Import filter and Java activiated can open and edit SVG Documents and has a Export function. W3.org Open Source graphic editor Amaya, Sketsa, GIMP and several others graphic programs supporting SVG can be used and downloaded for free. Adobe, Quark and Corel have already included SVG capabilities in their core products.
Worldlabel.com will continue to do further R&D with SVG Documents and will improve the quality as code, components and technology become available.
