The Macromedia website has just been taken down in favor of Adobe.com, which has adopted elements of its design.

I visited Macromedia.com this morning and was redirected to http://unavailable.adobe.com, which offered just this message:

We’re sorry, the service you requested is currently unavailable.
In the meantime please explore the other areas of Adobe. http://www.adobe.com/.

Thank you for your patience.

Further attempts to reach Macromedia.com redirected me to Adobe.com, proof that they’ve officially taken down the Macromedia site and incorporated its design elements into their own site. See Figure 1 for a screenshot.

The new Adobe site actually feels like Macromedia’s: a lot of the pages seem to be pulled directly from that site. I wonder what the design community will say about this.
