Send your story to the Parking Lot to get it out of the way for a moment, then send it right back in a flash.

Layout artists, you all know what we mean here: Sometimes you need to move a story off the page to get at something below, or you want to try something alternative out–even with abilities of InDesign, sometimes we have our own style, and you need the story out of the way, for just a moment or two.
What do most of us do? We move that thing off the page onto the artboard. Wouldn’t it be nice, either in the interests of precision or just to save yourself a step and some time and energy, to just have that thing snap back to where it was?
Rorohiko, Ltd, has just what you need. The “Lightning Brain Story Parker” allows you to move a story off the page onto the artboard, and then, with just a single click, stick it right back from where you unstuck it. This will work for a single frame or all linked frames in a story.
It requires Rorohiko’s “Active Page Item Runtime”, which is also free from them. Once that and the Story Parker plugin is installed, the item “Active Item Page Runtime…” will appear at the bottom of your conxtetual (right or control click) menu. Select the item for parking, choose where to park it, and it goes. Reslecting the parked object, clicking “unpark”…goes right back.
Rorohiko’s page on the plugins is right here, and, yes, it is free. Check it out!
