FreeHand, Macromedia’s vector drawing tool, is at end-of-life, according to latest information from Adobe, but is still available for purchase
FreeHand, Macromedia’s (now Adobe’s) 2D vector drawing tool, similar in reach to Adobe Illustrator, has been ended as an evolving tool, according to Adobe.
Terri Stone, CreativePro.com’s editor-in-chief, has reported as such on the CreativePro.com website:
Not as dead as, for example, ImageReady, which has disappeared. You can still buy FreeHand MX, the version Macromedia released in 2003. Of course, a lot has happened in Softwaredom since then. FreeHand MX wasn’t built to run its best on Intel Macs or Windows Vista. Suite-mates Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash have moved on. If you care about those kinds of things, you’re SOL.
While FreeHand will still be available for purchase, Adobe does not plan on any further versions.
