Step 4. Ctrl-drag a small black circle for a hole. Select the “hole†with the Selector Tool,and hold ctrl as you drag right, then right-click to drop a copy of the hole. By holding ctrl this time, you will constrain your drag to 90° so the second hole will be perfectly aligned with the first.

Step 5. Select both “holes†and ctrl-drag downward, then right-click to drop a copy of the two holes. You now have 4 circles to make the buttonholes.
Step 6. Select all four “holes†and group them (ctrl + G or Arrange > Group) and drag them on top of the button circle. Shift-click the button to select both the button and the holes group.
Step 7. Open the Alignment palette (Arrange > Alignment). Click once in the middle of the preview area on the palette to set the alignment options to set horizontal and vertical positions to align centrally.
Step 8. Click the Apply button to center the group of holes on the button.
Step 9. Go to Arrange > Combine Shapes > Subtract Shapes to cut holes through the button.
