For some reason it seems Illustrator (and sometimes Photoshop) will just default to grayscale. So you have to bring up the colors palette and reset it to the correct color mode (I mostly work in CMYK 'cause it's for print). It's irritating, I know. (I have to wonder if there's a way of changing this is Prefences so you can pick the default color mode?) Ricky: I’ve run into that as well.
