Also, you can do all of these on the Windows verson of Photoshop CS3

1. Open the “ALT-splash” (but you don’t use [ALT], you just use
[CTRL]
2. Press the “Print Screen” button on your keyboard.
3. Make a new photoshop document (usually uses the clipboard
image size by default) and paste the screenshot.
4. Open the Levels dialog box and use the following settings:
(approximate)

Input Levels: 253 0.10 255

This reveals a hidden picture of Bruce.

You have this a little wrong. You should be playing with the levels, and there are 3 hidden images using levels.
