I also was having trouble finding the “Custom CMYK,” but after randomly clicking on everything I found it!
Edit>Color Settings, then in the Working Spaces section click CMYK>Custom CMYK. This will open the Custom CMYK window. Then follow directions above!

Thank you for this tutorial. I can’t convey how frustrating trying to figure this out on my own was. Most things in Photoshop have always seemed pretty intuitive and logical but this just didn’t make sense. Your tutorial solved it in no time flat. Excellent!

You just become my personal saviour! I was tearing my hair out to get a page containing 100 bitmap barcodes along with color graphics to be converted from RGB to CMYK. It is going to be printed with offset machine and the barcodes were so small they absolutely have to be plain black to be readable by machine.

many, many thanks, this was a lifesaver. i design in rgb for screen, but now have a customer who needed package design, and i couldnt get my blacks on par in ps and illustrator for print..

this was a life saver, thanks a lot. now I just have to figure out how to save it as a PDF without Photoshop giving me a program error :-)
