<description>Joyce, I haven't installed PSE 4 on Vista because I have 5 (and Adobe did release an update to 5 right away to make it work on Vista) but I found some information here http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/winvista_rc1_02.asp that says yes. This man was working with Beta 2, and since Vista has now been released I would say if you are happy with PSE 4 then you should be OK staying with it on your new computer. Vista is a resource hog so make sure you have plenty of ram.

Here's the results of Paul Thurrott's testing:

"Adobe PhotoShop Elements 4.0
Works: Yes
Notes: Despite an error dialog warning you that this application has "known compatibility issues," it works great in RC1. From what I can tell, the issues are actually related to Adobe Updater, which PhotoShop uses to obtain software updates online. Given the scarcity of such updates, this isn't a huge loss."

I will add that I personally have seen issues with the Adobe Updater, even in the full release version of Vista, but with Acrobat. Not sure how it performs with Elements 4 since I don't have it on this computer. It would download the updates and install and it usually requires a reboot to finish the install, but on rebooting the computer it would freeze rather than complete the installation of the update. I finally shut it off and downloaded the updates for Acrobat manually.
