Freeware Friday: Photoshop Brushes

Here’s four online resources for free Photoshop brushes. If you use Photoshop for artistic work, you’ll definitely want to check these out.

I picked this one up just yesterday from Layers Magazine. These brushes aren’t your conventional brush shapes—they’re more like patterns or stamps—but they can make some really cool textures and backgrounds.

Besides being a wickedly cool (and well-built) website with a nice portfolio, magurno.com has an extensive collection of brushes.

VBrush
The link above is the main page, or you can click here for the Photoshop brushes. There’s a lot of brush sets here so if I had to recommend one place to visit out of these, VBrush would probably be it. There’s also some Photoshop 7 brushes and tutorials on the main page.

Artric Photoshop Brushes
Another source of stamp-based brushes and textures, but there are a lot of natural textures that can be modified to make some cool spatter brushes in the vein of Jackson Pollock.
