In honor of this month’s annual fright night, Designorati scoured the globe, peeking into every dark corner, every creepy closet, and under the bed for free Halloween fonts—living or dead. While we doubt we checked beneath every headstone and found every single font, we found plenty—over 300 Halloween and Halloween-inspired fonts—all free!
Note: Fonts are Windows TrueType format. To convert for Mac OS X and below, download this free utility: TTConverter15.hqx.
* All fonts were found on the Internet on websites or newsgroups identifying them as “freeware” and/or “public domain”. Any documentation or “read me”-type files that accompanied the fonts from their sources have been preserved. All files are packaged exactly as they were found. If a font presented here may not be legally distributed via this collection, the author and/or trademark holder is requested to contact us here prepared to establish his/her identity, legal ownership of the material in question, and to request removal of the material from this collection.
The header and footer illustrations for this feature were created using exclusively the text and symbol fonts from this collection.

[…] A brand new place for all things creative, Designorati gathered together over 300 Halloween fonts from the web. Some have been around for a long time but there are a few that I haven’t seen before. A thoughtful list from a site worth checking out. […]
I wish I’d seen your list earlier, it would’ve saved me hours when trying to find a holiday-theme font for http://sparktown.com. I wound up with a sIFRized font called Christmas on Crack made possible thanks to the cg-flashtitles Wordpress plugin.
I know this list took a long time to gather together and create all the previews. Next year I’ll know right where to go and I thank you for that.
I’m looking forward to the Christmas version (hint hint).
Hi, Leita!
I’m sorry you didn’t find it sooner, but David Chait’s CG-FlashTitles is a good plug-in—it’s creating the sIFR headlines on this very site, as a matter of fact.
Christmas fonts, huh? Well, it just so happens that I’m working on that right now. I have the Thanksgiving Fonts nearly finished (there are very few in comparison to Halloween, unfortunately). Both sets will be here when the time comes.

[…] As I posted last month, Pariah did font-lovers a favor by listing a slew of Halloween fonts and just in time for those turkey-loving blogs, here’s his list of Thanksgiving fonts. […]
Love your site…thanks so much! I am a pro photographer and am doing cards to benefit my local humane society, so these fonts will go to good use for a very good cause.
I too look forward to the Christmas ones (+:
