New digital typefounder preserves and forwards typographic legacy

Debuted November 2005, Archive Type (http://www.archivetype.com) is a digital typefounder with a unique and historical mission: preserving antique typefaces found in old books and samples, amongst other places, bringing, as the company puts it, those styles from a 19th Century print shop to this digital age.
The found items are made into digital form with all imperfections brought on by print service preserved, creating a definite historical feel. Also, due to the sources, most fonts are only available in majuscules and minuscules, numbers, and puctuation.
On thier small but very well organized website the peruser can find quick access to individual type samples and can quickly purchase fonts from thier current range of 30 faces, or, for $300, purchase CD with the whole range. More is in the offing as well, as a font of hands and arrows is to be offered in the near future. Fonts are available in Mac Type 1, Win TT, and OpenType, in three license ranges (1-5 seats for $20.00, 6-20 seats for $40 and 20-up for $100). There are also font collections available.
Visit them at thier home site.
