Hermann Zapf has given the typographic world a lifetime of creativity and continues to do so. Zapf’s durable and timeless Palatino has transitioned from metal to digital type and remains a classic mainstay of type and design to this day; his recently-released Palatino Nova has successfully updated the design into this modern, all-digital, OpenType world. So what does the type world do when the master turns 87?

A memorable party, in sumptuous surroundings (Schlosshotel Kronberg), with a roster of type and calligraphy names such as Linotype’s Bruno Steinart and Akira Kobayashi, Rick Cusick and Jovica Veljovic.
