In this edition: Archive Type, FontHaus, and MyFonts all have pretty new things.

We’ve written about Archive Type before, and we admire thier work. Archive Type preserves the past in modern digital form; to look at their type one gets a feeling of Victorian posters, showbill posters that have raucous combinations of big and small type, handbills from old letterpress printers. It’s with pleasure, then that we note the addition of three new members to its growing collection: Archive Egipt Compressed, Archive Kludsky and Archive Tale.
Archive’s site has, of course, the freebies: a sampler font and witty t-shirt graphics for downloading. Their home pages is http://www.archivetype.com.
MyFont has three up-and-comers for the month: Estilo, a font that has that feel of golden-age Art Deco and 1930’s magazine mastheads about it, a very classy feel; Opus, a modern clean and modular font that seems serious but at play, and Michael Clark’s P22 Sweepy, a font that has a very refreshing and free feel that appears as though it was drawn with a brush; one can even picture the gestural strokes involved.
MyFonts also wants you to know about Font Keywords, a new more graphical and intutitve way of finding fonts on the fly; has something to say about the retro fonts trend, and checks in with scripty Sonora, one of their Rising Stars for January that is now #10 on the Best Sellers list.
You can see this month’s newsletter for yourself at http://www.myfonts.c...tters/rs/200602.html.
FontHaus announces this month that they are making available, on CD, the entire Monotype library in OpenType format. This means such stalwarts as Gill Sans and Bembo but also recent works such as Neo Sans and Neo Tech are all available for designers in thier feature-rich OpenType goodness. The whole package comprises 1,496 fonts, 190 new releases, and 574 exclusives not available anywhere else.

The collection is priced for the enterprise, with a 10-seat license going at $3,489 and a 20-seat licesne going for $5,489. A 67-page PDF catalog is available via this link(13Mb), and is also available in printed format for $10 by writing sales@fonthaus.com.
That’s all for this go ’round; remember, if there’s anything you’ve heard that you’d like us to look into, please tip us off!
