Freeware Friday: Commodore 64 PC Font

A blast from the 8-bit past!

C64 Font
“64 KB should be enough for anybody…”

If you’re like us (well, maybe you aren’t, but anyway) you remember the days when 64 KB RAM cost as much 6.4 GB costs today. Those were the salad days, the halcyon days of 8-bit computing, and many different and incompatible systems competed for the geekly dollar; from the modest Timex-Sinclair 1000 to the hot and happening TRS, Tandy, and Apple][’s.

Each system had its own distinctive font for screen display, and the educated computer user could recognize them just by sight. The late Commodore 64 was no exception. We were indulging our curiosity about old systems whe we stumbled across this lovely: a PC, TrueType version of the legendary screen font, complete with an armload of dingbats of such things as the 64, the 1541 disk drive, and much Commodore logo play.
