The fastest notebook ever…

The Powerbook is dead, viva la MacBook Pro. The Macbook Pro comes with 2 Intel processors, at 4-5x faster than the Powerbook. Apple touts it as the fastest notebook ever, an inch thin, with an LCD as bright as the Apple Cinema Display. It also comes with built in iSight, and IR sensor with remote, and a magnetically held power adapter. Pricing is $1999 for the 1.67 Core Duo; 667 DDR bus, x1600; and $2499 for 1.83GHz. Apple expects the MacBook Pro to ship in February, orders are being taken today.

Also from MacWorld is the new 17″ and 20″ iMac, 2-3x faster than the original, also with the Intel Core Duo, without a new price. All included applications (iLife 06 and iWork 06) are native on Intel. As suspected, iLife includes iWeb, an application for sharing photos, movies, music, and blogs. Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, said all products are expected to transition through the end of the year.

Lastly, Quark 7.0 runs natively on Intel. Check back later today for updates from Vadim Litvak, live at MacWorld.
